O'Sullivan Sounish Bere Island

Post by admin » Fri Aug 25, 2017 12:15 pm

Hi,

I have used a number of sources to track this family. At this point i am trying to tie together the sounish families in Bere Island in the early to mid 1800s.
Riobard O'Dwyer's "Who were my ancestors - Bere Island" was a fantastic resource. I also used census, civil and church records and for pre Riobard's book i have used the Griffith Valuation (1852)

In this Griffith valuation there is a Daniel Sullivan (Soonish) living in [Land parcel 24] Ardagh, known as Locha or Leaca.
There is also a Denis sullivan (Soonish) with land in [land parcel 25] Ardagh and [land parcel 1a] Cloughland Lower.

Interestingly according to the maps their farms join. Does anyone know the relationship here? I know through local sources they were "closely related". What was this relationship?

My assumption is that Daniel Sounish is the father or Cornelius (b1820 circa, Locha), peig b. Locha (married darby hanley ardagh), Mary b. Locha (married Dan O'Sullivan bank), etc.
Denis married to Ellen Moriary and father of Denny Sounish and Jack Sounish.

Thanks
