The draw saw 2 groups with winners of Group II playing the losers of Group I and the winners of Group I playing the losers of Group II in the semifinals:

Clare Island recovered very well from their first round defeat by Bere Island to give Inis Oirr a hammering in the Semi Final. Catriona O Malley had a brilliant game and was easily Woman of the Match, scoring 5-1. Maura Moran scored 3-2 and _Aoife O Toole completed the scoring.
LADIES FINAL Bere Island.. 3-7 Clare Island 1-3
The Ladies Final saw Clare Island pitched against the favourites, the home team, Bere Island. Clare put up a great fight and were there with a chance of winning up to the three quarter stage. But then with the home crowd urging them on Bere Island went on to take the Trophy. Best for Clare Island were Mary Moran who had a fantastic game in goal and Maura Moran who played a terrific game and never gave up till the final whistle. This was a landmark in Mayo Islands history, when Inisturk defeated Clare Island for the first time. This was a closely contested game and the highlight of the game, indeed the tournament was

the midfield dual between James and Declan O Toole (Clare Island) and Eugene and Danny O'Toole (Inisturk)—all cousins. This produced some excellent high fielding and full commitment and it was only fitting that Eugene should be the one to fist the ball to the Clare Island net from a free by Seamus Concannon in the last minute to give Inisturk their well deserved win. Kevin Flynn also played a great game for Clare Island.

Licking their wounds after the defeat by Inisturk, Clare Island went out with determination to take on old rivals Inisbofin and what a game they played, in fact Clare Island took the game by the scruff of the neck from the throw in, saw early points by Padraic O _Nialley, Olaf Gill, and James O Toole. Inisbofin fought back and pointed twice, but Olaf Gill, Kevin Flynn (0-2) kept the flag flying for Clare Island. Inisbofin, however, always kept in touch which saw the teams equal at halftime—Clare Island 0-6, Inisbofin 0-6
The second half saw Clare Island draw clear again with a goal and three points. But Inisbofin were never far away and pegged the lead back to share the points.

The points situation at this time eliminated Clare Island and left the following for the semi-finals which finished thus:

The final was an excellent match with Bere Island getting an early goal. Inisbofin equalised immediately by Henry Lavelle. Bere, favoured by die wind, had points by Brendan Murphy (0-2), Michael Crowley (0-2), Barry Murphy (0-1). Inisbofin replied with a point by Ger Teehan to leave a halftime score:

The second half showed Inisbofin clawing back the match bit by bit. Bere Island added a point to their half time tally by Michael Crowley. But 4 points by Ger Teehan , 1 point by Henry Lavelle and the winner by Pat Coyne saw Inisbofin the Millenium Island Champions.

Man of the Tournament: Ger Teehan (Inisbofin) All then returned to Murphy s Pub for the presentations of the trophies and medals by Eamon . Cufv, Minister of State, Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands. John Murphy, Chairman of Bere Island, welcomed everybody and presented the Minister with a presentation bowl. Chairman of the Tournament, Donal O'Shea thanked the Minister'for his Department's sponsorship of the Tournament since its inception in 1998.
